The “Alpe Pian di Boit” centre for environmental education is immersed in the wilderness of the Val Grande National Park. At an altitude of 1123 meters, in the upper Val Pogallo, it is a 3 hour walk from Cicogna. It is an obligatory intermediate stop for the hiking tours that run through the valley; the route crosses many places rich in the evidences of the liberation struggle and the past activities of mountaineers and woodsmen. The settlement consists of a few mountain huts, one of which is used as a bivouac of the Val Grande National Park, always open and available to hikers. A second unit was restored by the Cooperative, and it is used for environmental didactics and wilderness excursion accomodation. Pian di Boit is also used for the activities related to the “Una montagna di valori (a mountain of values)” project, run by “Inalp” Association. Since 2003, the traditional feast takes place on the first Sunday in September.
